Everybody loves money.  At the ANU, like at other unis, if you’re a lucky person who meets the eligibility requirements you can be given money to help with the cost of attending uni.

There are a plethora of scholarships available to students.  Whether you’re studying arts or science, city-slicker or country kid, mature age or fresh out of school, there’s something for everyone.

The best bit is you don’t have to be a genius to receive a scholarship.  Here’s all you need to know…

University Wide Scholarships

These scholarships are available to anyone studying any discipline at the ANU.  You do have to be on the more genius side of the spectrum to get them though.

The National Undergraduate Scholarship is awarded to students who obtain an ATAR of 99.90 or higher.  It’s worth $12,500 per year, with half paid each semester for a maximum of 5 years.  There are no application requirements – all students who obtain the required ATAR and have an ANU course on their preference list will be offered the scholarship.  It is not available to international students however.

The National Merit Scholarship is available to students who have obtained an ATAR of between 99.50 to 99.85. It’s worth $6,500, with half paid each semester for a maximum of 4 years.  There are no application requirements – all students who obtain the required ATAR and have an ANU course on their preference list will be offered the scholarship.  It is also not available to international students.

The National Region Scholarship is available to students who have obtained an ATAR of 90.00 of above and have attended, or be attending a school located in the following postcodes: 2500 – 2554; 2568 – 2599; 2619 – 2633; 2640 – 2681; 2700 – 2731; 2790 – 2820; 2830 – 2830; 2845 – 2850; 2864 – 2871; 2875 – 2877.  Two referee reports are also required, as is a demonstrated involvement in school and/or community leadership.  It’s worth $6,500 per year, with half paid each semester for a maximum of 4 years.  The closing date is the 30th of November.  The online application form can be accessed at http://www.anu.edu.au/sas/scholarships/undergraduate/SPO/region.php.

While none of the above are available to international students, there are a number of other scholarships for international students.  These include the ANU International Undergraduate Scholarship, ANU Malaysian Alumni Undergraduate Scholarship, ANU Singapore Alumni Undergraduate Scholarship, ANU Thai Alumni Undergraduate Scholarship and the Terrell International Undergraduate Scholarships.  More information on international student scholarships can be found at http://www.anu.edu.au/sas/scholarships/undergraduate/index.php.
